Never Stop Growing!

Article #4:

“And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” Luke 2:52

Jesus never stopped seeking God the Father while He was here on earth. Just like we are called to never stop growing in our faith.  The Word says Jesus grew in wisdom, stature and in favor. We would do well to model not only our spiritual lifestyle but our physical lifestyle of growth as Jesus did.

First let us look at the definitions wisdom, stature and favor; then we will see how we can incorporate them into our daily lives. According to, wisdom means the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise. Stature means the importance or reputation gained by ability or achievement. Favor means an attitude of approval or liking. In our lives, developing wisdom when it comes to making good judgment calls towards our food choices will lead to numerous health benefits such as more energy, freedom from illness and/or addictions and possible weight loss. Many times we eat certain foods that we know the way it makes us feel afterwards is less than enjoyable. The next time we are faced with the same food, we think of only pleasing our taste-buds and will immediately regret that choice once our stomach starts hurting and the bloat sets in. However, we can avoid this by recalling the negative feeling before we eat and choosing not to indulge in that particular food. This is using wisdom. Then the satisfaction of making the right choice will make us feel good and want to keep doing it. Wisdom can lead to gaining stature and developing respect for our bodies. Our bodies are God’s temple and we must treat it with as much care as when He designed it.  Stature can then lead to a positive attitude of our developing healthy lifestyle. When your daily choices towards living are founded in scripture it is that much more enjoyable.

The Bible is bold in promising us health according to God’s design – “Dear friend, listen well to my words; tune your ears to my voice. Keep my message in plain view at all times. Concentrate! Learn it by heart! Those who discover these words live, really live; body and soul, they’re bursting with health.” Prov. 4:20-22. The Creator and Holy Spirit  will lead you, heal you and help you to discipline your body and mind. Just ask! You can take control of this part of your life by allowing God to take the lead. Then the most wonderful thing can happen – it will become easy and joyful to live a scriptural healthy lifestyle!

Praise be to God!!
