Small BUT Positive

After my first article published, of course I was anxious to hear what the community thought! The editor said, “We had a small but positive response (but that’s good because people don’t normally say anything unless they don’t like it.)”

Do not Conform to the Pattern of this World

The world has many beliefs as to what health and wellness should look like. Man says we will find our self-worth by the number on the scale, in our jeans or in other’s opinions. The world bombards us with the message “do what makes you happy” through books, songs and billboards. It constantly comes up with the latest fad diet, supplement or program for the “quickest way to get to a better you”. As Christians we know our self-worth is found in Christ and we are called to glorify Him with our spiritual and physical bodies.

Romans 12 verses 1 thru 2 says, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” We, as christians, should not conform to the pattern of the world even when it comes to our physical bodies. The struggle with our body imagine begins in the mind. That is why God tells us to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. We must change our thinking and it should look nothing like what the world tells us to think.

When the world seems to be creeping in on your mind remember these following truths: In our weakness, GOD has made us strong because we must rely on HIM to learn self-control. We are fearfully and wonderfully made because GOD created us in HIS image. Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit because GOD has made us righteous in HIS eyes. GOD will bring us to physical health and wellness in HIS timing.

Be patient with this journey to a healthier lifestyle. Freedom within your personal health and wellness God’s way does not start in the gym, it starts in the mind and heart. It will take time to learn how to overcome low self-esteem, addictions to food or drink, unhealthy relationships or lacking self-control.  Be thankful for every opportunity to make a healthier choice to honor God with your physical body. You will literally feel better for it!! Isaiah chapter 40 verse 31 says, “but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

Continue to pray and seek God’s Word for His pattern regarding health and wellness for your life. Before you add or take away anything to your daily health and wellness regimen, ask God to reveal to you if it aligns with His Word regarding our physical bodies and His creation.
